Welcome Aboard!

You have discovered the home page of Sea Scout Ship 244 based in Cary, North Carolina. If you are looking for adventure, challenges and fun, this is your chance to explore one of the best programs in Scouting.

Sea Scouting is high adventure on sea and land – providing new experiences, exploration, adventure and lifelong memories. We are involved in recreational boating (sailing, power boating, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting), scuba, underwater hockey, camping and other high adventure activities. No previous experience needed. Come learn some new skills and be prepared for fun in, on and under the water!

Sea Scouting is a specialized division of the Boy Scouts of America, a nationally recognized youth development program. It is a co-educational program for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 21 who want to have fun and to experience the rich opportunities and traditions of the sea. Youth that are 13 years old and have completed the eighth grade are also eligible to join.

Every month Ship 244 has at least one weekend water activity. We are fortunate to have multiple lakes within easy driving distance and the coast is just a few hours away. Week long adventures in the Florida Keys or other locations are selected by the youth and usually occur during the summer months. There are also exciting opportunities for both group and individual participation in Sea Scout adventures at regional, national and international events.
